Pathways and Pursestrings
Goal
Our goal is to increase homebound women’s incomes in
hard-to-reach rural areas of Pakistan by working in partnership with national and local
organizations and institutions, and building
their capacity to facilitate women’s access to
viable markets with appropriate products.
Objectives
a) Market Integration of Homebound Rural Women through
value chain development work to result in
increased incomes and economic empowerment.
b) Capacity Building of local institutions ( CBOs and
NGOs) to implement initiatives that benefit
citizens to increase income level and improve the
quality of life. This will be undertaken keeping
in consideration the socio-cultural, health and
environmental aspects.

Duration and operational Areas
P&P is for 4 years project and will
reach marginalized and impoverished areas in all
four provinces of Pakistan; Baluchistan, Sindh,
North West Frontier Province (NWFP) and Punjab by
offering economic empowerment to disadvantaged
communities and households.
Reach
and Clients
Our target group is the community of
marginalized sequestered women producers who
lack linkages to high-value markets where
their goods are in demand. The estimated number
of female clients of the Project is 16,000 to
20,000 disadvantaged women across the country
that also affects the family members.

Four targeted industries
include: Embellishments, fresh milk production,
seedlings and glass bangle.
Our
Partners
MEDA Pakistan is working through partnership with national
NGOs/institutions in Pakistan. Our lead partner
Economic and Community Development Institute
(ECDI) is providing capacity development support
to four Key Facilitating Partners (KFPs). KARRVAN
Crafts, Sarhad Rural Support Program (SRSP), Pak
Social Welfare Society (PSWS) and Haleeb Foods
