Canadian International Development Agency
(CIDA)
It was formed in 1968 by the Canadian government. CIDA administers foreign aid programs in developing countries. It operates in partnership with other Canadian organizations in the public and private sectors as well as other international organizations. CIDA supports organizations in four priority areas in developing countries for social development, economic well-being, environmental sustainability and governance. It brings in development assistance which is focused, strategic, effective and accountable for bringing in development and poverty reduction.
MEDA Pakistan is funded by CIDA for its four year project, Pathways and Pursestrings (P&P): Market access for women producers in Pakistan. It is a total of 7.7 million dollars (Canadian) project. Out of which 6.7 million dollars (Canadian) have been contributed by CIDA.Through
this project, MEDA Pakistan and its local
partners are striving to facilitate
16,000-20,000 women entrepreneurs to develop and
enhance their opportunities for integration into
local and regional markets
